Established in 1923, the Archeological Museum (Muzeum Archeologiczne) moved
in the 1950's to the 17th century Arsenal where it remains today. It offers a vast
permanent collection on the prehistory of the Polish territories and hosts numerous
temporary exhibitions. Interesting to note, the museum staff also maintains the
archeological site at Biskupin, a fortified lake settlement build around 550 BC near
Gniezno.
