Opened in 1965, the Pawiak Prison Museum (Muzeum Wiezienia Pawiak) is
located in the restored basement remains of the former Tsarist prison (built 1835)
co-opted for use more recently as an infamous Nazi prison where between 1939 and 1945
100,000 Poles were imprisoned and executed.
